May 2013 Wish List

May 2013 Wish List

May 2013 Wish List by zobloggs

Here is a little wish list of all the items I have been lusting after in the month of May...

1. Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream Moisturiser ($62) - I was introduced to this via Caroline Hirons' (aka Beauty Mouth's) blog. I discovered Caroline's blog after she did a skincare chat video with the Pixiwoo sisters. Since watching that video I have been reading Caroline's Blog and taking notes like a crazy women! I thought I had a pretty good understanding of skincare, but it turns out I didn't have much hope! This is one of her top moisturiser recommendations so I am hoping to pick this up as soon as my current moisturiser runs out.

2. ASOS Mono Pattern Coat ($127.56) - This monochrome pattern is right up my alley. ASOS are currently offering 20% off coats so I might have to pick this up ;)

3. Stila Convertible Colour in Lillium ($23.20) - A gorgeous natural-looking cream product that can be used on both cheeks and lips - I have been eyeing this off for quite some time. A couple of months ago I purchased my first cream blush (Bobbi Brown's Pot Rouge in Fresh Melon) and this spawned quite the love affair. This little product has definitely moved up my shopping list!

4. Pandora Green Quartz Ring ($139) - After receiving a couple of Pandora rings for my birthday in March I have really fallen in love with their collection. I particularly like this ring, I think the colour of the stone is beautiful and it would look great stacked with my other rings.

5. New Balance Trainers (similar) ($109.95) - After scouring the internet for these in burgundy, and reluctantly accepting I was never going to find them, I have settled on this navy/pink combo. I'm really into the New Balance look at the moment. Here is a picture from Pinterest that I love:

6. Michael Kors Selma Bag ($379.32) - to me this is the perfect bag. Not too big, not too small, structured, has a long handle, not to mention a reasonable price tag for a designer bag!  Now just counting down the days to June 30 so I can get my tax refund back...

I hope you enjoyed my wish list for the month of May! What have you been lusting after??

Review: L'Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Gloss

Today I am back with a product review. The L'Oreal Shine Caresse lip glosses are old news in the US and UK but have only recently been released down under. These are a gloss/stain hybrid, and have been hailed as dupes for the (much coveted) YSL Glossy Stains.

Here's my two cents:

Price & Availability: The L'Oreal Shine Caresse lip glosses retail at $23.95 and can be found at Priceline, Big W, Kmart and most pharmacies in Australia.

Packaging: I quite like the packaging of these lip glosses, I think they look sophisticated and expensive for their price.

Colour Range: The thing I found to be a let down with these glosses is the limited colour range. I only ended up purchasing one shade because, frankly, it was the only one I liked. The range is predominantly purple/lilac tinged shades with a couple of reds and one neutral. There is not much on offer for lovers of Pink or Coral. I purchased the neutral "my lips but better" shade 101: Lolita and I really like it for every day wear.

Application & Finish: The product has a generously sized doe foot applicator which makes it quite easy to apply. It does take 2 or 3 coats to reach full opacity but once applied it gives quite a glossy finish and is not sticky in the slightest, I would call it a 'glaze' rather than a typical gloss texture. It does have a "fake" smell that I can't put my finger on, but the scent does not linger after the product has been applied.

Staying Power: I have found that the gloss will stay on my lips for about 2 hours, lasting through my morning coffee. Once the gloss has worn off it leaves behind a lovely tint and I generally find myself reapplying after lunch.

Before & Afters:

Before - bare lips

After - indoors

After - sunlight

Overall, I was extremely impressed with formula of the Shine Caresse gloss that I tried and would certainly pick up more if some more colours were released in the land of Aus. Come on L'Oreal - some pinks and corals would be lovely!!

Have you tried the L'Oreal Shine Caresse glosses? What did you think?
